{"id":207,"date":"2013-12-11T19:29:36","date_gmt":"2013-12-11T19:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ontario400.ca\/?page_id=207"},"modified":"2014-08-05T20:10:22","modified_gmt":"2014-08-05T20:10:22","slug":"who-we-are","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ontario400.ca\/en\/who-we-are\/","title":{"rendered":"About us"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are two components to the organizational structure of the commemorations of the 400th anniversary of French presence in Ontario : the Provincial Organizing Committee and the Provincial Community Steering Committee.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Provincial Organizing Committee <\/span><\/h4>\n<p>This committee oversees the various governmental projects related to the 400th.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><br \/>\nProvincial Community Steering Committee<sup>e <\/sup><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The community component is led by a Provincial Community Steering Committee created in March 2012.<\/p>\n<h4>The Assembl\u00e9e de la francophonie de l\u2019Ontario<\/h4>\n<p>The <i>R\u00e9seau du patrimoine franco-ontarien<\/i> (RPFO; aka Franco-Ontarian Heritage Network), a province-wide\u00a0organization responsible for promoting knowledge of the history and highlighting the \u00a0heritage of French Ontario, found itself lead coordinator of the project following the Summit on the Future of Franco-Ontarian Cultural Heritage held in 2009.\u00a0At the time, more than 125 representatives from the institutional and community sectors mandated the RPFO with overseeing the liaison and coordination of community initiatives for the 400<sup>th<\/sup>, with an eye to celebrating, \u201cwith great fanfare,\u201d this pivotal anniversary for all Franco-Ontarians.<\/p>\n<p>However, the project took on such dimensions that, today, it reaches into every sector of Ontario society, and was consequently given to the <i>Assembl\u00e9e de la francophonie de l\u2019Ontario<\/i> (the <i>Assembl\u00e9e<\/i>).<\/p>\n<p>The <i>Assembl\u00e9e<\/i> is the umbrella organization and political voice of the French-speaking population of Ontario. Its mandate is to consult the province\u2019s francophone community and, among other things, act as an advocate for the rights of the province\u2019s 611,500 Franco-Ontarians.<\/p>\n<p>The <i>Assembl\u00e9e<\/i> is governed by a Board of Directors made up of 24 members:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A Chair<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 5 representatives from the 5 regions of Ontario<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 4 representatives from the community of Francophone racial and ethnocultural minorities<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; 14 representatives from community and identity sectors<\/p>\n<p>The Chair of the <i>Assembl\u00e9e de la francophonie de l\u2019Ontario<\/i>, Denis Vaillancourt, was re-elected on Saturday, October 26, 2013 for a second three-year term.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about the <i>Assembl\u00e9e<\/i>, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/ontario400.ca\/page-3\/www.monassemblee.ca\">www.monassemblee.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the context of the 400<sup>th<\/sup> project, the mandate of the <i>Assembl\u00e9e<\/i> is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>provide all support services to the Provincial Community Steering Committee for the 400<sup>th<\/sup><\/li>\n<li>be responsible for the implementation of community efforts for provincial consultation, coordination and liaison<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two components to the organizational structure of the commemorations of the 400th anniversary of French presence in Ontario : the Provincial Organizing Committee and the Provincial Community Steering Committee.
