Position: SENIOR STRATEGIST – SOCIAL MEDIA – #CHAMPLAIN1615 PROJECT
Category: Full-time contract position (35 hours weekly – flexible schedule and workplace)
Duration of contract: One year – until March 31, 2016
Start date: April 7th, 2015
Annual salary: $68,000

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

The successful candidate will be responsible primarily for creating and implementing a bilingual national social media campaign for the #Champlain1615 project.

The project is intended to build Canadians’ awareness of the key role played by Champlain in Ontario, in 1615, which led to the creation and impressive development of Ontario and Canada.

A key element of the project is a nation-wide social media campaign centered on interactive citizen participation and titled “Trouve ton Champlain / Find Your Champlain”, which is planned for the summer of 2015.

This position reports to the Project Director for the Ontario community component of the 400th anniversary marking the French presence in Ontario.

The Senior Strategist – Social Media will, in particular, be required to:

  • Devise an overall strategy for running the bilingual national Find Your Champlain / Trouve ton Champlain social media campaign, which will include:
    • Similar initiatives and context
    • Overall performance objectives
    • Target audiences
    • Deliverables for the engagement strategy
    • Recommended social media
    • Inclusion of sites, sitelets, applications, newsletters
    • Recommended strategic partnerships
    • Influencer screening and monitoring tools
    • Image management tools
    • On-line crisis management approach
    • Viewing patterns on Hootsuite and
    • Framework for campaign performance analysis
  • Launch and run the campaign from June to November 2015, with emphasis on the following roles:
    • Develop content in both languages, as well as images to be posted on social media
    • Create and negotiate required partnerships with entities and influencers, to amplify the campaign’s reach
    • Work to activate participation on a daily basis
    • Manage conversations and responses
  • Organize the production of legacy tools (print media, infrastructure) using powerful images from the campaign
  • Provide regular support to the Ontario “400 jours du 400e” campaign on www.ontario400.ca
  • Work with the 400th anniversary and Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario teams
  • Provide all relevant support needed by the Project Director

REQUISITE SKILLS:

The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of on-line strategies and business models
  • Experience as a digital strategy development and implementation lead for Web, mobile and social media campaigns
  • Fluency in French and English (both oral and written)
  • On the lookout for new industry trends
  • Problem-solving skills, detail-oriented and results-driven
  • Proven teamwork skills, as well as proficiency in making connections and working in a collaborative environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with partners
  • A college diploma or university degree in communications, public relations, marketing, business administration or a related field will be an asset.
